LIB DEM-led Burnley Council is putting even more effort into making our town greener.

Burnley became the second best area in the country this year for reducing the amount sent to landfill, said Lib Dem Council Leader Gordon Birtwistle. But there is so much more to do.

“In addition to the Veolia street sweepers we re-introduced last year after more than 20 years absence under Labour, we’re keeping our own clean teams going.” Prosecutions for fly-tippers are now amongst the highest in the country, and the official government rating has improved from 4 (poor) to 1 (highly effective) since the Lib Dems took control.
