MORE post offices face the axe in Burnley.

The Labour government has announced that it is going to cut 2,500 more post offices. The Royal Mail are officially consulting Burnley people now.

Nine Post Offices Scrapped Our area has been hit hard by the cuts, losing nine post offices in eight years. Now more cuts are on their way, said local campaigner Gordon Birtwistle. Labour just doesnt seem to recognise the important role post offices play in local communities. Meanwhile, the director in charge of the closures will be awarded a £1million bonus if he makes sure the post offices are shut on schedule.

Our local Labour MP voted in Parliament against protecting the post office network. Since then, thousands more post offices have closed across Britain. Labour MP Silent She has not raised local post office issues in Parliament even once since becoming an MP. These planned closures are a disgrace, said Gordon Birtwistle. One in five post offices could be axed – all because Labour are taking away government business they need to thrive. Queensgate councillor Bill Bennett added, People depend on their Post Office for pensions and other things, especially the elderly. This consultation will be like all the others, a whitewash! We dont need a consultation to tell us that people value having a post office in their local area.
