Birtwistle welcomes Burnley recognition in the 2014 Lloyds Bank Community Fund


Local MP Gordon Birtwistle MP has welcomed the news that Burnley has been recognised in the 2014 Lloyds Bank Community Fund. 1,400 good causes in 350 communities are set to benefit from a Lloyds Bank Community Fund award, including two groups from Burnley.

The community groups from Burnley to receive an award are:

  • Fraser Street Project  £500
  • Action for Children - South West Burnley  £1000

The 2014 Lloyds Bank Community Fund is helping local people in Burnley to have a positive impact at the heart of their communities by giving grants of between £500 and £3,000 to good causes.

“I am thrilled to see that Burnley has benefited from the Community Fund award this year," Gordon said, "Having seen for myself the excellent, well run community centre that the Fraser Street project run, I am delighted that they have received a £500 grant. Action for Children have also worked very hard and deservedly secured a £1000 award too.

“These projects along with many others in Burnley provide vital services to our community, offering support to children and fulfilling their needs.”
