According to the latest figures released, there have now been over 4,700 new apprenticeships in Burnley and Padiham since 2010 - double the number that were created in the life of the previous Labour government (2005-10).
Gordon Birtwistle, Member of Parliament for Burnley and Padiham, and government apprenticeships ambassador, said:
"It is great to see the number of apprenticeships has more than doubled in the last five years. As a former apprentice myself, I know the value of an apprenticeship in teaching young people the skills they will need to find a career for life. The young people who are apprentices in our town today are our future. Their skills will encourage more firms to invest in Burnley and Padiham, brining in more jobs and making our town prosperous."
