For the first time in decades, direct trains will start running to Manchester from Burnley from 18th May this year. This is after the Todmorden Curve was rebuilt following funding won by Gordon Birtwistle and Burnley Liberal Democrats.
From May 18th, trains will run direct to Manchester from both the rebuilt Burnley Manchester Road station and from Rose Grove station, something which Gordon Birtwistle pushed for in the early stages of the process.
Transport Minister Baroness Susan Kramer visited the new Burnley Manchester Road station last week to view the new facilities and discuss the economic opportunities the new link will provide our town.
