The children’s ward at Burnley General is to follow emergency A&E services in being transferred to Blackburn
Whilst minor children’s conditions will still be treated in Burnley, any children requiring an overnight stay will be transferred to Blackburn. Parents will face a 20 mile round trip, or struggling with public transport to visit sick children.
This is the second ward at Burnley General to face closure in the last few months – health bosses are consulting on closing the recovery ward.
