Gordon Birtwistle MP and local residents in Burnley have been fighting hard against the Labour-controlled Burnley Borough Council's proposals for up to four permanent Travellers' Sites in Burnley. We do not believe that these sites are in the best interests of the people of Burnley and Padiham and are asking that Burnley Borough Council reject these proposals from the Emerging Local Plan.
Gordon has received confirmation from the government minister for planning that the responsibility on this matter lies with Burnley Borough Council (read more here) and Gordon is calling on the Council to act on the advice.
Please sign our petition if you agree that these sites are unnecessary.
Burnley Wood residents show their opposition to the plans
We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the proposals from Burnley Borough Council to develop up to four sites in Burnley as permanent travellers' sites. We do not believe that these proposals are in the best interest of the area.
